Meet Kathryn and Course Overview

Introduction

Hi, I'm Kathryn and I want to welcome you to from 'Bump to Bond,' a prenatal prep course to help you transition from pregnancy into postpartum. We're going to be covering a variety of different topics including physical changes that occur during pregnancy, mental health for new parents and coping strategies for dealing with high emotions, milestones and what you can do to support your baby in their learning and development, building bonds and attachment and ways for you to be responsive to your new baby, as well as introduce emotional regulation tools to help manage parental stress.


I'm a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida, parent coach, wife and a mom to an amazing kid.

I used to hear things like "you're never going to sleep again or sleep when the baby sleeps" and while I know that that's well meaning advice, it didn't necessarily prepare me for my transition into parenthood. As well as I was shocked at the fact that there's only (1) 6 week postpartum visit where other than that you're pretty much on your own. If it hadn't been for my work opportunity working at a local University Hospital, I would have never learned all of the things that I did. I was lucky enough to work alongside pediatricians, nurses, and hospital staff; working in the pediatric unit with postpartum moms. That's where I learned that breastfeeding does not come as natural or doesn't come as easily and that sometimes you're pregnant for nine months and it feels like when this baby comes out you're meeting a stranger. So I hope to help you learn what the transition is going to look like and guide you along the way and Congratulations!
